Upcoming Feature: ZIP Extract Support
March 8th, 2007 — 7:36 pm —You’re not limited to five uploads at a time anymore.
With v0.3.2 you’ll be able to upload ZIP files (up to 25MBs big each) that contain multiple files. Then, in Resources, you’ll be able to extract those files and add them into resources just like you would any other uploaded file. So you have those 15 photos you want to include in an image gallery? Zip ‘em up and upload ‘em all at once (again, assuming the ZIP is under 25MB). Here’s a screenshot of what a ZIP files properties look like:
Basically the idea is that you upload a zip file, go to it’s properties and click ‘extract files from this archive’. You can automatically add those files to the bucket if you know you’ll end up wanting to move all of them to a particular set. Note, if you only upload one file you’re automatically taken to it’s properties now so if it’s a zip file you’ll lose the “going to it’s properties” step.
For the technically-minded you’ll want to check out rubyzip.
By the way, that Dilbert cartoon is pretty funny :p
